Don’t Overlook These 4 Places During Fall Cleaning

  |     |   Cleaning

NorthBridge at Millenia Lake Living RoomIt seems like just yesterday you finally finished your spring cleaning, and now it’s time to do the same thing for fall. One thing residents of our Northbridge at Millenia Lake Apartments in Orlando, Florida, shouldn’t do is forget certain spots during your cleaning regimen. Here are four places you should put special interest in tackling this time around.

Inside and Beneath Your Sofas

Think about how often you kick something out of the way as you’re walking through your living room? Take the time to move your sofas and remove any debris or lost shoes. Use your vacuum to get up any smaller particles you can’t pick up with your hands.

Pull out your sofa cushions and remove any loose change or other items. Use the attachments on your vacuum to clean out this area as well.

Behind Your Living Room Furniture

You’ll likely find lots of previously lost items by moving your furniture and cleaning out anything you see. Take a cloth or dust rag to get rid of any dust buildup. Make sure you cover your nose and mouth as you clean.

Get help moving heavy items back and forth. You don’t want to injure yourself in the name of cleaning. Be sure to remove any items beforehand that might end up falling on your head.

The Drains in Your Kitchen and Bathroom

You should make sure your drains are clean even if they don’t appear to be clogged. Use some of these natural ingredients if you’re tired of odors wafting up from the depths. That way you avoid using harsh chemicals irritating to your skin.

Natural drain cleaning ingredients:

  • Vinegar and baking soda
  • Lemon juice with baking soda
  • Borax, salt, and vinegar
  • Boiling water

These items shouldn’t scratch your pipes and will help prolong the health of your drains. It’s also a good idea to avoid using your garbage disposal as much as possible. Avoid putting grease down your drain to prevent nasty buildup.

Your Dishwasher

Start with a solo wash cycle, placing a cup of vinegar on the top rack. Finish things by sprinkling a little baking soda on the bottom of your dishwasher and run a third cycle using hot water. Doing this deep cleans, freshens and deodorizes your dishwasher.
